My Favourite Music

Although conforming to one music genre seems impossible to me, due to my widespread interests, I narrowed it down to a simple selection:
Having a close look at Nirvana:

Nirvana is an american alternative rock/ grunge band that was founded in 1987. The band members are Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. They are regarded as one of the most influential and important rock bands of the modern era. Nirvana was active untill 1994, untill the suicide of the lead singer lead to the bands breakup. Although the band has been 'inactive' since then in it's original formation, both Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl have been active ever since. Fore examples in bands like 'Foo Fighters' or 'Eyes Adrift'.

The Band has sold over 75 Million records world wide, making them one of the most best-selling bands of all time.

Do you own their album?
Yes, I own the hard cover disc of 'Nevermind', the 1994 release 'MTV Unplogged in New York' CD and the in 2002 release completition 'Nirvana'. I hava lso been passed down the Vinyl compy of 'Nevermind' from my father's collection.

What do you like about them?
About Nirvana, I perticularly like the use of instruments. AS wel as Cobain's voice the intumiantalisation of the songs are outstanding. The grunge sound, that Nirvana identifies with is a staple in my collection, because I am particularly fond of their lyrics. Cobain has supplied the basic consept for every sing, which was then tweacked by his bandmembers and songwriters.

How did you find out about them?
I have been aware of Nirvana ever since I can remeber, since the music is timeless a continuous sucess. However I started identifying as a fan when I was 12 years old.

Do they have a website?
Yes, Nirvana has a hope page target at the fands, however that was only recently launced.

What do you think of their ideologies?
Nirvana's Ideology cant really be pinned down, since their produced their music for the sake of putting their style out their in respone to all of the highly produced but hollow tracks on the radio.
Nirvana wrote music with a nihilistic attitude, an attitude that suggests the idea that nothing matters much, and also suggests a detachment from one's society, surroundings, fellow humans, caused by a lack of motivation or even cynicism. To day this is associated with rebelious tennagers, however I think it is more than that. It expresses a mind set that is still taboo in large sections of society, which in my opinion is of importance to adress. Also personaly, I think it is intresting followeing the clear journey of their mind sets.

What are your thought about their music videos?
Their music videos reflect that rebelious attitude that is associated with the grunge music genre. Therefor I think the music videos present an acurate representation of the band. Using narractive in the videos, highlights the message the band wants to put out there and therefor promotes Nirvana as an Organic Band.
